A millenial's kind step-by-step guide to self-improvement and self-care, based on my own experiments and experiences. Let me teach you πŸ™‚

The Best Life Begins At 40

I bet you've been convinced at your 20s that unless you get everything you want in life before you're 25, you're a failure. Yup, all is lost and life will be a downhill from now on. That's what I thought as well to be honest.

What if I told you its far from the truth?

When you're young, everyone tells you what to do and how to handle things. You need to get this degree, you need to work in your family business. You have no choice really. Everyone claims to have an authority over you, even if they don't. They might actually have good intentions and just want to help you. But you must remember, they don't know any better than their own lives.

But your life is yours alone. You are the authority on your decisions and the direction you're going.

Improving yourself is a noble thought and is absolutely worth it; its good for your health (both mental and physical) and brings plenty of purpose and sense of accomplishment in your life. However, it is hard work. And worst of all, your own brain will be your worst enemy!

The brain doesn't like changes. Its an unbelievable energy hoarder but very reluctant to use it any more than before. Therefore it comes up with all kind of bullshit like; "Oh its okay to eat the whole pizza, you've worked hard today" or "This excercise is dumb, let's just go eat some cake" or "You'll never be an author or artist. You suck."

In order to teach your brain that change is good, you need regular, continuous practise of a new habit. The changes don't need to be major, and making too big of changes might actually backfire. Small, incremental steps are the key. Eventually, your brain figures out that eating mostly healthy is good, excercise feels fantastic afterwards and you absolutely have potential to leave your mark on the creative field.

In my blog I will analyze my own ongoing journey and share insights on it. I hope it gives some kind of kickstart to your journey as well :)
